1971 Volkswagen Super Beetle Portraits

In October of 2021, I bought my first car with my own money. A 1971 VW Super Beetle. No, this was not my daily driver. My mom had given me a gold Honda when I was 16, and I drove that for almost 10 years. This Beetle was a gift to myself right before Chaz and I got married. We enjoyed this mystery of a machine for many years. If you have ever ridden in a not-perfect Beetle, you will know it kind of feels like riding on a go-kart with lawn chairs strapped to it. That's how this felt, but man, was it fun. It was not perfect by any means, but it was so nice and fun to have. I did attempt to drive the 54-year-old manual car once, and only once. I could drive it but it was klunky, old, and needed a repair in the shifter, but my husband could drive it, and that was good enough.

As of June 2025, we no longer own the car. It was fun, but it was a season. I now have something different I can't wait to take pictures with, show off, and actually drive. We week we sold the Beetle we took it out for a little photoshoot to always remember it by.
